Cracks in the mat after a year and a half., November 30, 2010 This review is from: Cleartex UltiMat Polycarbonate Chair Mat for Low/Medium Pile Carpets Up to 1/2 Inch Thick, Clear 49 x 39 Inches, Contoured Shape (119923SR) (Office Product) I purchased two of these mats in March of 2009. About a year and a half later both mats have developed several cracks. I use these mats on a medium pile carpet that's approx. 1/2" thick. My chairs use five casters and I weigh about 220lbs. I don't know if I've misused the product but I don't feel that I have. In addition to the cracks, I've always felt that the grippers on the mat don't grip well enough because my mat moves around and I need to fix the placement of my mats a couple times a week. I give this product only 1 star because of the cracks. Otherwise I would have rated this product 4 stars.

I am using it properly on standard/medium pile carpet and 1 1/2" plastic casters on my chair. No chemicals have evere been used or spilled on the mat. I filed a warranty claim and for replacements over ONE YEAR they are charging me $22.00 for shipping!

Too Expensive, January 14, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Cleartex UltiMat Polycarbonate Chair Mat for Low/Medium Pile Carpets Up to 1/2 Inch Thick, Clear 49 x 39 Inches, Contoured Shape (119923SR) (Office Product) I purchased this mat to replace an 8 year old Rubbermaid/Eldon mat of the exact same shape/dimensions but which is no longer made. This mat is placed on a medium pile carpet just like the old one but it has fewer grippers (spikes) which are spaced more than an inch on center and are not very grippy. This causes the mat to move around and need to be readjusted at least once a week. The material is very thick and rigid and any chair should roll well but there is no chamfered lip so if you roll off the edge, the coasters will get hung up if you try to roll back on, a problem I never had with my old mat.
Generally the quality is good but I feel for what this mat cost, the quality should have been better. My old mat out-performs this one and I only replaced it since it was showing stress-cracking and there were pronounced ruts where the casters were usually sitting. I cannot recommend this mat based on my experience and would say that it would probably be suitable for a low pile... Read more
