Novel idea, soft feel highlighter but not really much of a highlighter, February 23, 2011 By This review is from: Sharpie Accent Gel Highlighters, Colored, 3 Assorted Highlighters (1780475) (Office Product) Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?) The Sharpie Accent Gel Highlighter is very soft on use, almost like hitting a good golf ball. As advertised it works very well on thin pages without bleeding through the paper. Its luminosity/brightness is slightly less than a traditional highlighter (think a little more pastel than neon), but its smooth, gel action without the scratching sound of a traditional felt tip highlighter make it a pleasure to work with.
The feature that they do not dry out like traditional highlighters is a double-edged sword...it does not dry out in the highlighter, but it also does not dry fast enough on regular paper and even longer on smooth or coated paper. The product will smear and you will transfer the product to other parts of the paper or book on contact.
The gel highlighter works similar to a glue-stick....twist the bottom to get more product on top.
Pros:
- Soft Touch
- Won't dry out
- No scratching noise while using
Cons:

A Highlighter That Sure Is Different, March 7, 2011 By This review is from: Sharpie Accent Gel Highlighters, Colored, 3 Assorted Highlighters (1780475) (Office Product) Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?) In my job, I use highlighters a lot, so I was really interested in these new Sharpie Accent gel highlighters. They don't bleed through porous paper (like newsprint). They write on slick and glossy surfaces (even Scotch heavy duty postal packaging tape!). They don't smear (not even when used on that slick tape). And they don't dry out when left uncapped (the writing point is all gel). However, I don't like them, because I find it hard to control both where the highlighting color goes on the page, and how much color goes on the page. Also, the colors themselves are rather pale, even though they are fluorescent.
The writing "point" on the highlighters is a broad, half-inch-wide, rounded-off stub that more or less "conforms to your handwriting style", as advertised. You advance the point as it wears down by twisting the opposite end (it works like a glue stick). Although the points are wide, the color generally goes on as thin or medium underlining, and with practice it... Read more

Waste of money, September 2, 2011 By This review is from: Sharpie Accent Gel Highlighters, Colored, 3 Assorted Highlighters (1780475) (Office Product) I send letters out to employees of our company on a weekly basis, and I highlight the key items in the letters that need attention. You never really know where the Sharpie Gel Highlighter is going to hit the paper, so your work will look like it was colored on by a child with an unsharpened crayon. The fact that it "glides smoothly" over the paper also means that it does not hold steady as you're writing. It wears very quickly, so you have to constantly turn it to get a decent edge to use. It does not "adjust to your writing style." You have to adjust your writing style to it.
The fact that it doesn't smear gel pen or bleed through the paper is pretty moot when you consider the final product you will wind up with. I don't reccommend this product for any use.
