Smooth and Quiet, July 15, 2010 By This review is from: - Quincy Air Master Air Compressor with MAX Package - 5 HP, 230 Volt Single Phase, Model# 251CS80VCBM (Misc.) The compressor has been in service for two years now. It is quiet, smooth and recovers quickly. We ran it continuously for several hours on two separate occasions while air-stripping paint and running a small jack hammer but with good results. Although continuous use is not recommended by the manufacturer for this model the compressor performed without a whimper but did produce a significant amount of heat during these two periods and developed a little oil seepage from the crankcase gasket, but no leak. For a continuous use 5hp compressor you should consider the QR series from Quincy but keep in mind the QR model 325 would be grossly overkill for most users and very expensive by comparison, over $4000.00. Having a 50,000 hour service life this unit being reviewed will surely outlast me but it is nice to have equipment that I am sure will not let me down. It is constructed very heavy throughout but top heavy due to the massive pump (for a 5hp unit) so it should be bolted down to the... Read more
